Winter's Heart

I woke up sweating –
Thought it was the Winter’s Heart.
Dug right deeper in.

Meaningful gazes.
Secretly second-guessing!
A quiet breakfast.

So unbecoming
Of you to act out of spite.
I am offended!

Our relationship
Below this screaming street-lamp
Flickers on and off.
Shadows make way for light to
Return momentarily.

Miraculously
My hands are now tied no more.
Here stands a free man.

The definition
Of freedom, too, is oblique…
Am I really free?

The intersection
Of my body and my soul
Exudes confusion.

Free to go, or stay
Why consider it a choice?
I just make my way.

The evening has come,
I bury past’s last embers.
One for tomorrow.

Found myself sleeping.
Knew it was the Winter’s Heart
How it warmed me so.
