It's clear many in the channel are playing the latest elder scrolls game, so then i would like to ask what you all think of it, what do you think about it needs to be changed to make it that closer to greatness, and also feel free to state your complaints and problems with it, or any general discussion about it, share mods or whatever you like.

I got Morrowind a long while back, but didn't play it much. Once Oblivion came out and everyone started talking about it I went back and started Morrowind all over again. I'm loving it a hell of a lot. I mean, I played for hours without even starting the main quest. I would do this stuff in other games - do everything other than what I was supposed to be doing - all the time, and it's funny how only lately I found out there was a game that is based pretty much around this style of gameplay. I only wish I had a computer good enough to play Oblivion.

Yes, Morrowind is great fun indeed. I've played several separate characters in it and only one of them advanced in the main quest Smile
Also, since the game contains a good editor, there are MASSES of plugins and mods out there. I recommend checking some sites out, arrange them by popularity, and pick a few. Will make a difference. Also, unless you have the expansions get them too, they're not bad either Smile

Why not list some of the plugins and/or mods you use yourselves?

Will do. I'd put links, but in this case that is hard. Most can be found from Planet Elderscrolls, which requires registering but it's worth it. Now that Morrowind is getting a bit old there are a lot of broken links around google, but perseverance prevails!

Morrowind:
-Magicka Regen: several variations around, this is a MUST-have, all other ES games have magicka regeneration by default, including Oblivion
-No-Glo: several variations again, this will make things look... less glowy when you get to the point where all your equipped items are enchanted
-Better Heads & Better Bodies: again a must have, check out some screenshots
-Companion Teleportation: useful when doing quests that involve escorting, and specially if you use a companion mod like the one listed later, with this the companions teleport with you if you use any of the normal teleportation spells yourself
-SkipTutorial: several variations, only useful for those who make three new characters a day Rolling Eyes
-Ashlander Tent: a very cool and useful mod which enables you to buy an ashlander yurt that you can carry around, place anywhere outside and store all your stuff in... nothing beats decorating your own crib with trophies! \o/
-Slave Companions: you can buy a (naked female if you so choose) slave or few that can do various chores for you, carry stuff, fight etc... they even level up, and you can set their equipment normally
-in addition to those I use various cool/hot/evil clothing and armor mods, the web is full of them~~

During the two days I could play Oblivion, I only installed one plugin. Forgot the name and can't check it here, but it reverses the effects of vampirism. Naturally only useful if you play a vampire, and if you don't like the way it currently works. Normally, you gain the most power/weaknesses, get a Nosferatu head and scare people away if you DON'T drink blood for a few days. Drinking blood reverts you back to almost human, and you can again talk to people and walk safely under the sun... well, safe from the sun at least Smile The mod reverses this, so that when you drink blood, you get the most power/weaknesses, but you look almost human (thus not scaring anyone) and are almost able to walk in sunlight (1 damage per second, you can take it long enough to get things done, and I like the adrenaline rush). This is similar to Anne Rice's vampirism, and doesn't really affect game balance (actually it's harder since you're never fully safe from the sun, unlike with the original vampirism).
From what I've seen in the forums, there are a lot of useful tweak mods in development and out already, gotta look into those asap.

Meh! I wanna play Laughing Gotta hope the computer isn't bork when I get home the next time...

Thanks for the tips, Arm! I actually tend to use mods for any game only after I've completed it or at least played a substantial amount of it. I like to know everything about a game that I like, it's good and bad sides, before I try to make the experience different from the developers' original vision.

How much flexibilty does the construction set offer? Have there not been any mods that change more than just basic features here and there? You know what I'd love to see? A Chrono Trigger total conversion for Oblivion Twisted Evil

Very Happy I know there were a few total conversion projects going on, no idea of the results though. But the Construction Set does allow you to change ALL content. Most of game mechanics is hard-coded, though can still be changed to some extent through scripting. I have no idea of what Chrono Trigger is like, so dunno about that Crying or Very sad Embarassed Rolling Eyes Very Happy

(Man I love to (ab)use smileys~)

I think it's an awesome game, quality engine, and much better progression of the main storyline than Morrowind (opening up with Kvatch? Awesome.) I spent about a week fine tuning my system performance and messing with the ini - I highly recommend this guy if you're thinking of doing the same: http://www.tweakguides.com/Oblivion_1.html

Mods I'm using:

BT Mod v2.20 <- (I'd probably recommend this to anyone playing on the PC)
Auryn's Level Mod v2.02
Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul
MD Natural Faces v.7
MD Oblivion Eyes v1.8
No Psychic Guards (harder) v1.1
BetterVampires v1.15
ReverseVampires v1.01
Color Map Mod
LOD Texture Replacement mods
Sneak Master Perk Replacement
300_Weapons
Arrow Velocity
Attack and Hide (medium) v2.0
Compass Marker Reducer
Less Fog Underwater
dyseso's Light Ingredients and Alchemy Potion Perks
Visually Enchanted v2.1

If it can be modded, I'm all uber it. Smile

Have you guys heard about having to pay for official mods? They'd only be justified if they added stuff that noone could make for free, like new areas/buildings/guilds etc, rather than minor items like horse armour.

Copy protection shouldnt matter though, as you can see http://www.elderscrolls.com/news/press_041006.htm
they've had record breaking sales, but i dont think that should make it ok to charge money for crap like horse armor, or anything actually!

Perhaps that'll show everyone that copyprotections are the shit, they don't make things better.
