Philosophy Forum

Postby Mortis » Sat Mar 11, 2006 17:13

Dear all,

For a while now, our discussions in the irc channel have somewhat drifted towards philosophical agenda; Most of the activity, of course, is still related to something else, but there is an undercurrent of demand for "more" because of (including and not limited to) the following factors:

a) In some cases, we have used references
b) The discussions can be philosophical in style, which requires going back and forth with topics.
c) Making notes is helpful for all parties, so that discussions can continue more easily.
d) Introducing a topic is easier when it's laid out with time.
e) Not everyone wants/is able to take part in these topics.

Therefore, some weeks ago, I presented to Smeagol an idea regarding splitting these topics (philosophy, religion) into an area completely of their own. I would like to hear if anyone had comments regarding this plan (especially regarding the use of the forum as a mark-it-down vehicle).

That's a great idea, will be a lot easier to reference back to your own ideas (or those of other people as well)!

All right folks, when I feel less lazy, I will make that new section and move all approppriate threads there.

I'm guessing we will need to see to some activism in trying to maintain conversation though. Wink

Right after voting i began thinking what Slowdays is all about, like what should this "general subjects" forum be about ?

I'll get back to that later, Smea, but I have a question for those that voted no; anything concrete that you could share against the idea?

In addition to that, I'd like to ask you to share your physical addresses... for no specific reason. Thanks! Cool
