Seemed like a slow page, but googling probably gives more results.

Quite a good explanation of the situation, I think.

It's scary stuff indeed.
Talk about getting things out of proportion, worry about poverty and wars instead. Make love not war~

I would like to update this thread with some additional information (although I'm sure all of you have been following the progress of this ongoing situation - the escalation has truly touched all of us by now) coming from Finland:

Finland's National Bureau of Investigation (KRP/NBI) is investigating websites that put up the Danish cartoons; The sites in question are being evaluated under the assumption of attempted mockery of "freedom of belief".

The problem is that the laws here regarding that are built around the state church, which is now being embodied in remnant laws that are then applied to a new context (another religion).

Enok retorted earlier:
I can't see the connection between publishing pictures shown already on tv and papers around the world and mocking freedom of religion

For Finnish viewers, the Helsingin Sanomat website search offers swift insight into the KRP happenings at http://www.hs.fi/haku/?kaikkiSanat=krp

Excuse me for the poorly structured sentences (which are sourced almost 1=1 from irc); I'll update this post at some point.

One swedish ISP has already shut down one site with the pictures. It was due to a "recommendation" or something like that from SÄPO (swedish security police)

Yea it's sad, our minister of justice is the security police' best friend, he wants all spying there is. Storage of data, ability to tap phones and all that nice stuff
