Mayday, mayday, we have a problem though - the smilies don't currently support ISO 8859-1 (Latin-1) characters. I need to file them a bug report.

This is typical phpBB... this is a "feature" that clearly hinders usability, but right now there are no no avenues to pursue because the team doesn't take feature requests at all right now.
Such a simple matter, too
