Re: SIP VoIP

Yeah :D Roger Wilco was great - up until it was bought out by GameSpy xD We (=Terga and our local lans) used it "back then" (In the great 1990s!) as well. I'm scarred for life by the whole GameSpy deal, to be honest; Back when we started on halflife.net with KAC/FKAC it was the best Half-L...

Re: SIP VoIP

Okay, I ran into some really serious bull today; Linphone works as it's supposed to, which is great, but comes packaged with the (apparently SIP-inherent) dilemma of too low a call volume and was thus unusable in gaming use... My next thought was, "So... why not get an old version of Skype? The...

SIP VoIP

Time for some new geek juice! I'm searching for an (preferably open source) alternative to Skype, which has been bloated to death. SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is often utilized to create VoIP calls so that's the protocol I've been looking at. So far Okay I think my favourite is Linphone becaus...

Re: Rip and encode a dvd

Speed is a key issue for anyone who does a lot of ripping/encoding, and even if you're not going to do that much in practice I still think speed should be something to aspire to program-wise. I'll have to have a look at the program asap :)

Re: Ritual News

Time's passed and I still stand behind how I defended Ritual to several news outlets - I still think they jumped the gun and possibly even contributed to Ritual's early demise. What have we heard of them ever since? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Still - there's one single bastion of SiN still alive a...

Re: Rip and encode a dvd

Very interesting! I just tried encoding an existing rip of the movie Orlando with Staxrip - it's really quite nice in that it has an extensive help system - one that actually downloads necessary utilities and codecs for you. The interface seems intuitive enough, if a bit long-winded even after you h...

You must remember to turn on DST in your forum settings, however, if you find that your time is one hour behind :) Also remember to be logged in to get personalized times.

Re: Radiohead: In Rainbows

As you know I've lost it for good now... so I would like to call some attention to certain points that the Radiohead release has brought up: ⋅ People are complaining about the quality of the download, which is 160kb/s. You know me to be a big-time audiophile, anally lossless all the way, b...

Re: Radiohead: In Rainbows

I should also add, I guess, that the interest in this album has resulted in the following: The unofficial official forum, Mortigi Tempo, has gotten its account suspended by their service provider (you can be sure that's "bandwidth limit exceeded") and At Ease's Wordpress is currently not m...

Radiohead: In Rainbows

Right now, no art forum on the planet is without a topic on Radiohead's new album, In Rainbows. Since we're all jolly bandwagoners here at Slowdays dot org, why not have on of our own! I was lucky enough to be able to get the download link sent to me in the morning, just before I was leaving for uni...

Re: EVE Online

I spent all day on just a few moderately hard missions (eventually blowing up both "Skin-Albert II" and "III"; Man I hated III though!) and now I'm a proud owner of a Thrasher called "Moomindooth I". I've got a really good idea of what I'll learn next, too, as there are...

EVE Online

I thought it might be a to make a thread just to lay down some of our first impressions and thoughts about the game. As scary as it sounds, four of us have already found our way into EVE... Armand, myself, Enok and vrap. Three of us are trialling (I have 6 days out of 14 left now thanks to the trial...

Re: Help a Poo' Musician Out

Haha great :D Right now I will be concentrating on finding time (school is really beating me up right now) to wrap up some cover art and promotional "materials", suitable texts to send to reviewers and record labels. I also need a website base I can extend to Myspace and other music websit...

Re: Help a Poo' Musician Out

It's hard to be objective with your own tracks, of course, but as far as these songs go, Kun me oltiin is really dear to me in more than one way. It only took me one weekend to finish the full song (including lyrics) and it turned out exactly like I wanted, so it'll always be a memory of something t...

P2P Web UIs

Hey guys, as you probably know I'm quite the connoisseur of P2P applications, and I was thinking, how many of you have actually used a web UIs? I just put a torrent downloading at home from school with uTorrent which was nice. I've also used both eMule's web interface as well as mobile phone interfa...

From what I've seen so far, I'm under the impression that you guys prefer tracks 5, 6 and 8 best - is this true, still, if in context with questions a) and b)?

Help a Poo' Musician Out

No, no, it's not about money! :D This is a mere two-part questionnaire for you all. If I were to send a three- to four-song demo CD to labels, hypothetically speaking, which songs from Sitruunapuu would you recommend me to pick for it? I need you to choose three songs; Kun me oltiin will be the open...

Re: Smashing Pumpkins

It's really weird... if you compare this b-side live version of Daydream (this song was originally released on Gish and sung by D'arcy Wretzky instead) to the rest of the new album, the performance is absolutely stellar. I love the ultra-mega-nasal tone he has here, it's evocative, intimate and real...
